Nashville’s own Jimmy Sullivan has been captivating audiences for years with his bi-monthly residency at Rudy’s Jazz Room! Born and raised in Reston Virginia, Jimmy studied jazz performance at Virginia Commonwealth University and spent years in New York City before making his mark in Nashville. Blending East Coast jazz and Southern soul, he's earned his spot as one of the Music City's premier bassists.
A versatile powerhouse, Jimmy has shared the stage with top-tier jazz talents like Laila Biali, Nicole Zuraitis, Joel Frahm, and Alyssa Allgood. His musicality and feel have also caught the ears of country and Americana legends including Lee Ann Womack, Mark Collie and Ashley Campbell. He's also known for his work with the genre-blending jazz collective Postmodern Jukebox.

Rudy's hosts the official pro jazz jam. Come out and experience some of music city's best as they take the stage with Nashville's next generation of jazz performers! You will hear a variety of young, old, new and undiscovered players showing what they can do on stage. Part of the jazz tradition and what jazz embodies is the unknown and spontaneous exploration of new musical territory with new musicians sitting in live on stage; you never know who or what to expect other than the unexpected!

Multi-instrumentalist Giovanni Rodriguez, one of Nashville's leading percussionists, bassists and favorite on the Salsa and jazz scene, plays the sounds of salsa, bachata and percussion-driven rhythms with some of the most seasoned veterans in the Nashville Latin music scene. Grammy Winner saxophonist Dana Robbins pays tribute to Les McCann & Eddie Harris and other artists; the Soul Jazz Sound of the late 60’s early 70’s, bringing back a genre that hasn’t been heard in decades, as well as great music of the B3 organ/tenor sax recordings from artists such as Jimmy Smith, Shirley Scott, Jimmy McGriff, Joey DeFrancesco and Charles Earland.

Known as “The Teacha”, Regi Wooten is one of the most innovative, talented and dynamic musicians around the scene, and has pushed the boundaries of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, rock, and even bluegrass to some of the most extreme musical limits. From picking, slapping, strumming, thumping, and tapping to some of the most ear bending advanced chords you’ll hear on any instrument, Regi has earned world-wide notoriety and comparisons to other innovators such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Chuck Berry. Perfecting, creating and discovering new techniques and jazz theory while incorporating and layering into strong funk grooves for keen listeners to uncover and pick up on is one of his many notable fortes.
At only nine years old Regi started teaching his younger brother Victor Wooten bass guitar and Joseph Wooten keyboards, and soon the Wooten Brothers Band was formed featuring; Regi on ukelele, Roy on drums, Rudy on Saxophone, Joe on Keys and Victor on bass. Rebecca Carlson

Singer and songwriter Rebecca Carlson was born and raised in the small town of Milford, Iowa. Both her parents were music lovers. From an early age she was singing gospel with her entire family, and she credits this with instilling in her a great passion for music and a highly developed ear for harmony and melody. She also would lose herself in her father’s immense collection of vinyl LPs, where she got a ‘home-schooling’ like no other -everything from classic blues, jazz, rock, country and soul. She was influenced by vocalists Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone, Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter.
Rebecca was singing professionally while still in her teens, performing jazz and blues standards at local venues. At Waldorf College in Forest City IA, she studied voice and theater. This led to a stint in NYC where she performed in repertory theater and nightclubs.
In Tucson AZ, Rebecca’s powerhouse vocal style quickly established her as a high-profile and in-demand performer. For fifteen years she maintained a steady recording and touring schedule throughout the Southwestern US. She was a founding member of original blues acts The Jane Crowe Band and 22 Black, all the while maintaining her Jazz and Standards catalog at local nightclubs and theaters. Rebecca expanded her regional reputation and following considerably when she joined the ranks of Tucson’s heavyweights, recording and performing with the hi-energy Soul/R&B act The Socials as she continued to record and perform in Tucson.
Rebecca relocated to Los Angeles in 2019, intending to pursue and focus on her songwriting and her solo career. In LA Rebecca met award-winning guitarist/producer Doug Hamblin. Doug’s past work includes classic artists such as Stephen Stills, Johnny Rivers and ‘Southside Johnny’ Lyon. Rebecca and Doug began writing and recording and were immediately excited about the results. The sessions were very productive in a five-month collaboration they finished an album’s worth of all-new original material. The music covers a broad scope of classic American styles.
Upon her move to Nashville, Rebecca teamed up with coveted bassist Jimmy Sullivan to do what she does best. As a singer, Rebecca has developed a formidable turn of phrase -sometimes surreal, fanciful and wry, other times achingly intimate and heartfelt—all anchored by her knockout punch of a voice.

Noah Pierre

Guitarist Noah Pierre makes his Nashville debut at Rudy's Jazz Room! Coming all the way from Maryland, Noah has been part of the D.M.V. scene since 2016. He picked up guitar at the age of 3 in New Jersey and was exposed to a wide variety of artists that became his influences. Some of these artists include: Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix to Mountain to Wes Montgomery to Mobb Deep to The Beatles to Stevie Wonder and everything in between. The son of two Haitians, Noah was also exposed to the music of Haiti through his family and developed a deep love for groups such as Tabou Combo. Noah releases music with his group, Noah Pierre Band, and has recorded and/or toured with artists such as Jarrod Lawson, Ron Holloway, Deborah Bond, Micah Robinson, and others. He completed his studies at Towson University in 2019, having studied under Shawn Purcell, Anthony Pirog, and John Lee. Noah will be joining Sofia Goodman's quartet to play two sets of his original music, both released and unreleased.

Born in Kansas City in 1920 on August 29, Parker helped pioneer the bebop movement in the 1940s, bringing lightning-fast improvisation, complex harmonies, and emotional depth to the forefront of modern jazz. His collaborations with legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk pushed the boundaries of the art form and continue to inspire generations of musicians. With timeless recordings like Ornithology and Now's the Time, Parker’s influence is still felt in every corner of the jazz world.
Don Aliquo’s playing has been described as “smooth as silk...with an unfailing feel for breath and phrasing" while extremely supple in the addressing of his axe but always zeroed in on what he's describing”.
“Growth” his newest release, explores new territory with intriguing compositions and ample solo space for Aliquo’s inspired improvisations. The eight originals are both complex and open, which shows him expanding his boundaries not only as an instrumentalist and improviser, but also as a composer. The music is an electrifying modern outing with one foot in the future and one in the tradition.
Aliquo has released six solo projects and has worked collaboratively or performed as a sideman on many others. His previous solo cd “Sun and Shield” features veteran jazz masters Rufus Reid, Jim McNeely, and the dynamic Obed Calvaire.
Notable collaborations include a duo recording with eclectic pianist Michael Jefry Stevens and quartet recordings with Roger Humphries and the late Beegie Adair. He also has recorded with his mentor, notable Pittsburgh tenor stalwart, Don Aliquo Sr. on the MCG label.
Don has performed in concerts and recordings with many world-class artists including Gary Burton, Greg Osby, Rufus Reid, Roger Humphries, Harold Danko, Adam Nussbaum, Donald Brown, Pete Christlieb, Scott Robinson, and Bobby Shew.
Don is Professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He is a Selmer and Vandoren artist.

Joshua Constantine is a tenor saxophonist from Birmingham Alabama. Joshua is a former member of the prestigious and Grammy-nominated UNT One O’Clock Lab Band®, and student of world-renowned saxophonist Brad Leali. Along with his musical success, Joshua has gained a considerable following on social media and Youtube with his cover of “Just the Two of Us” reaching over 3 Million views! Joshua is currently an active performer and professor in the Nashville music scene.
Striving to honor the history of jazz music, Joshua intends to provide Rudy’s Jazz Room with an enriching and spiritual experience by playing the works of great composers such as John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Duke Ellington. Pianist Pat Coil has toured Japan, South America, Europe and the U.S. with such artists as Michael McDonald, Carmen McCrae, Olivia Newton John, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Woody Herman and many others. Pat has recorded with many artists including Natalie Cole, Trisha Yearwood, Ernie Watts, Carmen McCrae, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Kenny Rogers, Travis Tritt, Peter Cetera, Woody Herman, Scott Henderson, and Michael McDonald.
During his L.A. years, Pat played on many movie and TV scores, including Star Trek - Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Murphy Brown, Dionne Warwick & Friends, Growing Pains, Major Dad, Spencer For Hire, The Grammy Awards and many more. He played for various artists on the Tonight Show, Arsenio Hall, & Conan O’Brien. Living now in Nashville TN, Pat continues his successful career composing, recording, performing, producing, arranging and teaching. He has composed, produced and performed on hundreds of underscores heard on a variety of media all over the world. Pat taught jazz piano, combos, and improvisation at Middle Tennessee State University, and was an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at the University Of North Texas.

Ari and Cecil Alexander Quartet

Cecil and Ari Alexander perform a selection of originals, classics and Great American songbook compositions all arranged specifically for quartet and reimagined for an intimate yet highly energetic and swinging night of music.
Hailing from Muskegon, MI, Cecil Alexander is an accomplished guitarist, composer, and arranger. Cecil was the 1st place winner of the 2017 Wilson Center Jazz Guitar Competition and the 2018 Lee Ritenour Six String Theory Competition. In 2019, Cecil was one of 3 finalists in the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition. Cecil has recorded/performed with Bill Charlap, Antonio Hart, Lee Pearson, Luis Perdomo, Nathan East, and Steve LaSpina. Some of his greatest influences include Jimi Hendrix, Thurston Moore, Grant Green, John Coltrane, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, and Frank Zappa. As of Fall 2021, Cecil started a teaching position at Berklee College of Music as Assistant Professor of Guitar. Further, he was recently signed to Heartcore Records, a Berlin-based label founded by legendary guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Cecil’s debut album with Heartcore , Introducing Cecil Alexander, was released September 23rd, 2022. Most recently, Cecil has begun playing in the touring band of Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott).
Holding a Scandinavian sensitivity to an American tradition, Danish-American Ari Alexander is as equally a jazz musician as she is a singer-songwriter. She was inspired to pursue jazz after learning of her vibrant musical family, including her grandmother and great-aunt, jazz vocalist Teddi King. A Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory graduate, Ari produced her album "Muse" with her band Visen in 2022, followed by "Duos," a collection of guitar and voice duets with Cecil, in 2023.
Hailing from Muskegon, MI, Cecil Alexander is an accomplished guitarist, composer, and arranger. Cecil was the 1st place winner of the 2017 Wilson Center Jazz Guitar Competition and the 2018 Lee Ritenour Six String Theory Competition. In 2019, Cecil was one of 3 finalists in the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition. Cecil has recorded/performed with Bill Charlap, Antonio Hart, Lee Pearson, Luis Perdomo, Nathan East, and Steve LaSpina. Some of his greatest influences include Jimi Hendrix, Thurston Moore, Grant Green, John Coltrane, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, and Frank Zappa. As of Fall 2021, Cecil started a teaching position at Berklee College of Music as Assistant Professor of Guitar. Further, he was recently signed to Heartcore Records, a Berlin-based label founded by legendary guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Cecil’s debut album with Heartcore , Introducing Cecil Alexander, was released September 23rd, 2022. Most recently, Cecil has begun playing in the touring band of Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott).
Holding a Scandinavian sensitivity to an American tradition, Danish-American Ari Alexander is as equally a jazz musician as she is a singer-songwriter. She was inspired to pursue jazz after learning of her vibrant musical family, including her grandmother and great-aunt, jazz vocalist Teddi King. Bruce Dudley Trio w/ Jim Ferguson and Marc Widenhofer

Bruce Dudley is a Steinway Concert Artist and has been performing jazz piano for over 40 years on concert stages, in clubs, and private residences throughout North and South America. He specializes in the Great American Songbook, as well as in the rich history of American jazz styles, from Ragtime and Stride to Modernism, Post Modernism, and performance of original music. In addition to his work as a solo artist, he leads a trio, quartet, and larger ensembles, with horns and/or strings, while also enlisting the award winning voice of his wife, Sandra Dudley. An active educator, Dudley has presented clinics across Canada, the United States, and in Colombia, South America. His recordings as a leader include DPSW Quartet - Live at the Cave (2019), The Solo Sessions (2012), Mostly Monk (2010), and Semblance (1997). Dudley has also performed with artists Aretha Franklin, Crystal Gayle, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Herb Ellis, Randy Brecker, Little Anthony and the Imperials, the Ink Spots, and has played keyboards for over 35 touring Broadway shows, including Beautiful, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Guys and Dolls, Grease, Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde, among others.
Bruce Dudley has published articles for Downbeat magazine and presented scholarly research at conferences in the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. His book 25 Piano Etudes in Idiomatic Styles was published in 2021 by Keuka Waters Music.
Dudley is Associate Professor of Music at Belmont University. He has a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado, a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Science in Music Business and Technology from New York University.

Rudy's hosts the official pro jazz jam. Come out and experience some of music city's best as they take the stage with Nashville's next generation of jazz performers! You will hear a variety of young, old, new and undiscovered players showing what they can do on stage. Part of the jazz tradition and what jazz embodies is the unknown and spontaneous exploration of new musical territory with new musicians sitting in live on stage; you never know who or what to expect other than the unexpected!
